I am seeking people who shares my motivation and would like a good paying career in return for their efforts. Western Publications is locally owned.
Employment Opportunity:
Magazine Coordinator:
Job description:
As coordinator, the BC Coastal Edition of Getting There Magazine will essentially be YOUR magazine. You will be responsible for the hiring and firing (hopefully not the latter) of your staff. You will be contacting your sales team each morning to set goals and targets, make sales plans and again in the afternoon to follow up as well as get days sales from sales team. You will work directly with the editor to ensure advertising is properly placed within the magazine. It will be your responsibility to make weekly bank deposits into the business account and to give the company accountant a summarized sales report for income tax purposes. When customers call the sales department to place an ad (instead of contacting their salesperson directly), you will field the call and relay the info to the appropriate salesperson. Minimal sales work involved. You will also manage magazine distribution. Sales reps will be paid a small head hunter fee for distribution and you will ensure that your sales reps are being pro-active in obtaining distribution locations. Experience with Office (word and excel) is a must.
In exchange, your pay will be 3% of the magazine sales. As the magazine does not go to print without $80,000 in sales and a full magazine has about $300,000 in sales, you can expect that you will be earning $2000 to $9000 per month depending on sales.
The position is easy enough. This is a work from home position. There is a high amount of responsibility and I would expect applicants to be committed to their position. Self motivation is key.
Please email your resume to [email protected] along with a cover letter explaining why you feel that you would be a good choice for the position. I will be interviewing throughout the week. Interviews can be arranged for Gabriola Island, Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach or Port Alberni.

Job description:
Salespersons will be in contact with the coordinator in the morning to set goals and targets and again at the end of your sales day to report daily sales as well as follow up on morning discussions. You and the coordinator will work together to ensure sales are made. As a salesperson, you will be making cold call sales calls to businesses that you feel would benefit from advertising with us. Applicants must be customer oriented as it is your job to ensure that customers are 100% satisfied with their advertising purchase. Satisfied customers will be repeat customers, and this will make your job much easier. Finally, once sales are made, you and the coordinator will work together to ensure that advertisements are received and properly placed in the magazine by the editor.
In exchange, your pay will be 20% of the magazine sales for new customers and 15% for repeat customers. The other 5% from repeat sales will go into a fund and will be distributed to salespersons in the form of bonuses and other incentives. As the magazine does not go to print without $80,000 in sales and a full magazine has about $300,000 in sales, you can expect that you will be earning $3000 to $15,000 per month depending on your sales.
